With
its focus on what works in water and sanitation service provision,
the 1st IWA Development Congress will be an exceptional, strategically
important event to discuss smart solutions for financing and
infrastructure, utility management, institutional development,
regulations and policy. The event aims to share practical
knowledge and know-how on water and sanitation to foster greater
learning amongst peers, and to provide a solid platform on
which delivery of water and sanitation services for all citizens
can be achieved. All presentations will be in English.
Dr.
Darren Saywell, IWA Development Director & Congress Director
has expressed that as an association, this is one of the strongest
legacies that we can leave – better, more focused and
applied knowledge, excellence in delivery of basic services
and a network of professionals who are passionate.
Workshop
Water Safety Plans—Lessons From Implementation
Monday, November 16
Room 5
11:00 – 13:00
The concept of Water Safety Plans (WSP) is relatively well
understood as a means of managing the risks associated with
water supply. However, the institutional requirements for
and practical implications of WSP implementation are less
well understood. This workshop will provide case studies from
a variety of low- and middle-income countries and sector support
agencies on the implementation of WSP. It will also stimulate
the organic scaling-up of WSP through the demonstration of
existing peer group networks and support mechanisms.
13:00-15:00
Lunch session: Open meeting about Water Safety Plans.
