towards the Implementation of Water Safety Plans for Quality
Assurance of Sustainable Drinking Water Services in the Latin
American and Caribbean Region
During
the celebration of the 9th Annual meeting of the Association
of Regulatory Entities of the Americas, ADERASA, was signed
the Declaration of Lima. This document, promoted by the Latin
America and the Caribbean Water Safety Plans Network, expressed
the intention of regulators to develop Water Safety Plans
as the most effective way to systematically ensure the safety
of drinking water, according to the Guidelines for Drinking
Water Quality and The Bonn Charter of the World Health Organization.
Also, the Declaration of Lima emphasizes the concern of regulators
for the sustainable management of watersheds, contributing
to the process of adaptation to climate change, considered
one of the greatest threats to water supply.
The LAC/WSP Network highlights the role of the Peruvian National
Superintendence of Sanitation Services, SUNASS and its President,
Jose Salazar, in the adoption of the Declaration by ADERASA.
